Another cold morning in Jasper.  Before making breakfast, we went on a walk as our campsite was along the Athabasca river.  The walk warmed us up, cooked up breakfast and packed up and went into the town of Jasper. I went for a swim (again the only one in the pool!) and Chris went for a run and encountered a bear!  After my swim I soaked in the hot tub and had a long conversation with the locals working at the pool. Sounds like they like living there, imagine seeing such beauty every day.  After we met up again we did a little stroll around town then got in the car and drove to Grande Cache.

How can a beautiful sunrise like this not mean that this year will be the best year yet. Wapiti campground.

The highlight today was seeing a social group of Big Horn Sheep.  It stopped traffic and we got to watch the young ones try to scoot across the highway.  Animal sightings bring me so much joy especially when I was so upset to not see any yet.  I think it was a birthday present from the universe! Along the beautiful drive I also saw a black bears and deers and an elk. Got lucky today!

Grande Cache isn’t a very exciting town, but I wasn’t expecting it to be.  It’s too bad, because it’s surrounded by such beauty.

This was the best part of my day. Thanks mother nature for the beautiful birthday present!
