2020 I had made a resolution to connect with my spiritual side, particularly my Jewish faith. Over the 8 nights of Hanukkah, I got into a ritual of lighting the candles at sundown of each night. There was something so relaxing and joyful about that ritual. It was best enjoyed with people. I long for a similar joyful ritual to share with others. Lucky for the Jews, there’s Shabbat!

Friday nights in the Jewish faith are typically the start of 24 hours of rest. While I love the idea of it, I’ve somehow ended up working Friday evenings and Saturdays. That all ends on March 13th, when I take up the ritual of lighting candles at sundown on Friday nights for Shabbat. You’re invited to join me.

When: March 13th, 6:30pm
Sundown is at 7:22pm
Location: TBA (email Leehe@Wholeself.ca for directions)
For our first Shabbat gathering, let’s see where this goes. Feel free to bring crafts, stories, projects or songs but most importantly, good conversation. All ages, genders, ethnicities and sexual orientations welcome. This will be a safe, inclusive space. Can’t wait to meet you all.
